Karger Ties Gingrich in New National Poll

1% Behind Pawlenty and Santorum

DES MOINES, IOWA – In the new Zogby poll released late yesterday, California businessman tied former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, both scoring 1%.  The 1,103 sample survey showed Karger ahead of former governors Johnson and Roemer of New Mexico and Louisiana respectively.  He is just 1% behind former governor Pawlenty and former U S Senator Santorum among announced candidates plus Christie, Perry + Palin (see below).

Will Fox News let Fred in its August 11th Debate?

This week Fox News released the criteria for its August 11, 2011 debate – an average of 1% in 5 national polls.  CLICK HERE

“We’re almost there,” said Karger.  “This is now the 3rd poll in just the past couple of months where I am averaging the magic 1%.  For a first-time candidate, who has not raised millions of dollars, I am ecstatic about the results.  Now we just need to score in 2 more polls and I will be standing on the stage in Ames, Iowa next month with the other candidates.  As the only Independent Republican running, I look forward to getting away from the divisive issues and talking about the issues of concern to most Americans – jobs first, education reform and getting out of Afghanistan and Iraq now.  I have been at this for 18 months and all that work is beginning to translate into support.  We’re up from 0% just four weeks ago.”

Karger, a longtime political consultant, worked on both President Ronald Reagan’s campaigns in 1980 and 1984 as well as the campaigns of Presidents Ford and George H W Bush.  He was the first to establish an exploratory committee one year ago, the first to hire staff in Iowa and New Hampshire, the first to run TV commercials in those two states and the first to file for president on March 23, 2011 at the Federal Election Commission in Washington, DC.

Long-shot presidential candidate Fred Karger figures he’s got a few things going for him as he vies with some heavy-hitting Republicans, including Mitt Romney and Michelle Bachmann, for his party’s nomination.

For one thing, the Laguna Beach resident is the only Californian running for the highest office in the land — if you don’t count Romney’s move last year to San Diego — and for another, he had the privilege of working for the last Californian-turned-president, Ronald Reagan… (more)

The presidential candidates are spending so much time in New Hampshire and Iowa these days that it sometimes seems as if they live there.

Some of the 2012 hopefuls, in fact, do live there — former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and Fred Karger are among those who have taken up temporary residence in one of the early presidential states in an attempt to maximize their time with early-state voters… (more)

Fred spent six days all over the Granite State last week. He was the featured speaker at the Belknap County Republican Committee in Laconia, met with Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas, attended the Seacoast Republican Women’s luncheon in Hampton and was a special guest and introducer at “Keene Idol” before 250 people Friday night (thank you, the amazing Susan MacNeil!). Saturday started early. Fred and company manned a booth at the Exeter American Independence Festival. Hundreds of people dropped by and lots of kids and adults were smiling when they got their Fred Frisbee and Fred Who? notepad.

Then it was back to Manchester where we all met at Gary DeVost’s home before heading out to blitz the North End of town. Saturday marked our third big precinct walk and Fred Frisbee giveaway. The team is pictured below. It was a beautiful Saturday and we visited lots of homes. Special thanks to wonderful Bagpiper Allan who led the way. I think it’s safe to say that a good time was had by all. Join us on our next walk. Great way to meet people, get some exercise and help Fred (+ free Fred Who? T-shirt).

Here are the Saturday walkers last weekend getting ready to hit the neighborhoods.

Karger Takes on the Bachmanns,

Featured in the Boston Globe,

In New Hampshire for 5 Days, and Raises $264,000

Karger challenges Bachmann to Debate, not Michele but her Husband, Marcus

MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Presidential candidate Fred Karger challenged Marcus Bachmann to a debate on his controversial conversion therapy, which is practiced at two Bachmann owned Minnesota clinics.  Marcus Bachmann, husband of Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R – MN6) has referred to gay teens as barbarians.

Karger sent the following email to Marcus Bachmann today, and made a CNN iReport video request for him to quit hiding and “come out of the closet” and defend his conversion therapy practiced at both his Christian counseling clinics (which receive state and federal funds).

To watch Fred’s iReport,  CLICK HERE.

TO:  marcus.bachmann@bachmanncounseling.com

“Marcus Bachmann you are convinced that someone can “pray away the gay” and actually own two clinics in Minnesota where you and your 27 therapists actually practice this falsehood. Just last year you referred to gays and lesbian teenagers as “Barbarians, who need to be educated.”

Michele links the acceptance of gays and lesbians to Satan.

There is no place for this type of hate-speak and 19th Century thinking in the current presidential campaign. Michele and you refuse to comment about your past statements and beliefs. America needs to hear directly about where both of you stand on this issue which affects millions of lives.

Marcus Bachmann come out of the closet and debate me.

Marcus Bachmann (left) with Michele Bachmann

I will meet you anywhere, any place at any time, even at one of your clinics in Minnesota.

As the first out gay candidate for president, I have first-hand knowledge about a subject which you claim expertise.  Let me know if you accept this challenge.”

MANCHESTER, N. H. – Fred Karger is quick to tick off the slights to his presidential campaign. The Conservative Political Action Conference wouldn’t rent him a booth. Karger Raises $267,000 – Files Campaign Report With FEC

In his second filing turned in electronically to the Federal Election Commission today, Fred Karger reported raising a total of $267,000.  This reflects the 2nd quarter amount of $87,000 bringing the full amount raised from July 18, 2010 (when he formed his Exploratory Committee) to June 30, 2011.  Karger was the first major candidate for president to file with the FEC back on March 23, 2011.

“We just began our fund-raising in earnest, and for a first time candidate we did pretty well,” said Karger. “Much of the money came from me, but we have two fund-raising events coming up next week in California.”
